I also use them to make an announcement/go over clarification they may need. it helps tremendously with transitions and having them focus for instructions. My GO-TO attention getters… It can be exhausting asking for your class to be quiet. That is why each month I teach a new class attention getter that does NOT require words! Not only does it save my voice but it forces them to activate their listening skills first! Here are some of my favourites: -Clap out a rhythm to repeat back -Use a special sound (we like to use a Triangle and wait till the hum disappears) -Finger Countdown -Body parts pattern -Soft sounds (ch, ch, ch, ch, ch) -Doorbell chime
