Stop placing objects in your 3ds Max scene manually by moving the gizmo. That way you can waste a lot of time and it is not accurate. Instead try the following: 1. Select the object and edit its pivot point to place it at its base. 2. At the top in the main tool bar select the option: "Select and Place" 3. That's it!
