This works best on wooden panels because the surface is rigid. For this one I applied 2 coats of gesso. The first I used only vertical strokes and the second I used only horizontal strokes. When it dried, I was left with this brush stroke texture that resembles a woven linen with a whole lot of distortion! This is a great way to add a distorted pattern to parts of your painting!
