Why do we care about wiregrass? One important reason: Its gopher tortoises' favorite food. By bringing back this plant to the former timber lands of Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve, we also bring back gopher tortoises and all the other wildlife that depend on their burrows, including many species of insects, frogs, toads and snakes.
