Braided rivers are made of many small channels that twist and turn around islands of sand and gravel. These channels change shape often by splitting, joining, and shifting with every flood. The constant movement happens because the river carries a lot of sediment and has too much energy to stay in one path. The Brahmaputra River in Bangladesh is a perfect example — every year, its channels move across the valley, forming new sandbars, eroding old banks, and reshaping villages and farmland. From
