My rat tail cactus was ready to skadaddle on me. Here’s how to fix it! Depending on the size and thickness of a cactus, letting it callous can take anywhere from a day to MONTHS (if it’s large) but same steps as shown no matter the size. This cactus took in too much water which caused the rot but if there’s green, we can still save it. Cactus propagation. I’ll leave these pieces alone and won’t water them. I didn’t bury the ends, I want them to dry out or callous. They will eventually root directly into the medium. Once they have roots, I can start to lightly water them, making sure they dry out completely in between. Once the roots are established, I can pot these guys up. I can pot up a bunch of individual pots or make arrangements. I might have to make an octopus or something fun. I’m not sure yet. My peanut cactus is growi
