U.S. Sen. Tina Smith said she experienced chest pains she feared were those of a heart attack on Wednesday morning, leading to an overnight stay at a District of Columbia hospital. The 67-year-old Minnesota Democrat said doctors at George Washington University Hospital spent “much of the day monitoring me” and that she stayed overnight out of an abundance of caution.

Sen. Tina Smith says she’s been given “a clean bill of health” and she’s ready to get back to work fighting for Minnesotans. The Minnesota Democrat was admitted to George Washington University Hospital.
