Storm prompts evacuations for North Carolinas Outer Banks

On Monday at 10:41 p.m. an updated tropical storm watch was issued by the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC in effect until Tuesday at 6:45 a.m. for Northern Outer Banks.
Hurricane Erin weakened some overnight but was still a Category 3 storm on Tuesday that was expected to grow much larger as it approached the United States. Erin, the first hurricane of 2025 in the Atlantic, was not expected to make landfall in the U.S., however.
The storm is expected to continue to fluctuate in intensity and could double or even triple in size as it moves north and west, reports said.
