Netflix registered its most-watched Christmas Day ever after splashing $150 million on the exclusive rights to two NFL games on December 25 this year

Thanks to NFL stars like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, Netflix said it enjoyed its "most-watched Christmas day ever" in the U.S.

“Netflix entered the NFL streaming game on Wednesday with its pair of NFL broadcasts, with the Ravens vs. Texans posting a 24.3 million average minute audience and the Chiefs vs. Steelers notching a 24.1 million average minute audience,” the Bleacher Report wrote of the Christmas games.

Netflix’s NFL debut broke the record for a U.S. streaming audience for an NFL game, as an average of more than 24 million domestic viewers tuned in to the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens’ win over the Houston Texans on Christmas Day.

The NFL will embark on a new Christmas Day tradition starting this year. Christmas Day games have been played in the past throughout the NFL, but only on special occasions.  That changes Wednesday, as the league will play Christmas Day games in the middle of the week for the first time.

Netflix will have one of its biggest days since the site launched in 1998 when it carries two NFL games for the first time on Christmas.

D: As expected, Netflix boasted quite an impressive audience for its two Christmas Day NFL matchups. The Chiefs-Steelers and Ravens-Texans games, the first-ever NFL games on the streamer, put up an unduplicated audience of nearly 65 million U.

Despite blowouts in both Christmas Day games, Netflix drew a record audience of nearly 65 million total streaming viewers in the United States for the Kansas City Chiefs-Pittsburgh Steelers and
