Reaves will be eligible to earn a massive extension after this season that will likely pay him upwards of $30 million per year. Currently, the Lakers guard is on one of the more team-friendly deals across the NBA, as he is scheduled to make $13.9 million this coming season.
Among all the Lakers’ realistic trade assets, none is more appealing than Austin Reaves. The team remains hesitant to part with the 27-year-old wing, who averaged 20.2 points, 5.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game last season, but pulling off an actual blockbuster is hard to fathom if he is not included in the deal.
On Tuesday, James made a major statement about his future with the Lakers and in the NBA while speaking with the Associated Press’ Jonathan Landrum Jr. “I have a lot of time to take care of my injury, my knee, the rest of my body and make sure I’m as close to 100% as possible when training camp begins in late September,” James said.
