Two men have been sentenced to four years and three months each in prison for felling a landmark sycamore tree in northern England.

LONDON (AP) — Vandals who cut down England’s beloved Sycamore Gap tree were sentenced Tuesday to more than four years in prison for damaging the country’s natural heritage and for the outrage and distress they caused.

Two men have been jailed for four years after cutting down the famous Sycamore Gap tree. Adam Carruthers, 32, and Daniel Graham, 39, were sentenced for destroying the beloved landmark on Hadrian’s Wall. The 100-year-old tree became iconic after featuring in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
