WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson, who has not played since getting hit by a pitch on his left hand Tuesday against Atlanta, took batting practice on Friday for the first time since the injury and is expected to be in the lineup soon.

There is only one spot left open in the 2025 MLB Home Run Derby after Brent Rooker of the Athletics became the seventh player to confirm his participation in the event.

Former Diamond Dawg standouts Brent Rooker and Jurrangelo Cijntje – both first round draft picks – are set to participate in several events during the Midsummer Classic. Rooker will compete in Home Run Derby as well as the All-Star Game itself while Cijntje will pitch in the MLB Futures Game.

The A's will have a second representative at the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, as Brent Rooker was named an All-Star as the American League's second DH today. He will join A's shortstop Jacob Wilson in Atlanta later this month.

Brent Rooker has established himself as one of the most prolific sluggers in baseball over the past few seasons. So it’s only fitting that his second career All-Star selection will include a spot in the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby.
