Russian defenseman Nikolai Goldobin, 29, has been claimed off KHL waivers by SKA St. Petersburg, the KHL website announced on Monday. He had been waived by Spartak Moscow, the club for which he’d played the past two seasons.

In an announcement made by the team, they revealed they claimed right-handed pitcher Julian Fernandez off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester. Since there was a spot on the 40-man roster open, they didn't have to make a corresponding move.

The Mets have requested unconditional release waivers on right-hander Paul Blackburn, according to Mike Puma of The New York Post. Blackburn was designated for assignment on Saturday when the Mets called up Nolan McLean.
