Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis fired back after a Democratic state senator decried the state's move to eliminate the rainbow colors from an Orlando crosswalk.

A rainbow crosswalk was removed overnight outside of Pulse nightclub in Orlando, one of the most significant LGBTQ sites in Florida, as part of state and federal transportation officials’ aim to wipe “political banners” from public roadways.

As Thursday winds down in Central Florida, a few evening thunderstorms are expected. In addition, the FOX 35 Storm Team is continuing to monitor the dangerous rip currents and surf coming from Hurricane Erin as it passes by the East Coast.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Rain is expected during the morning hours today, with a few pockets of heavy rain coming as early as 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. This is caused by a front stalling to our north, which will bring more moisture into central Florida. Areas west of Orlando, such as Clermont, The Villages, and Ocala, can all expect the highest rain totals.

The SEC's move to a nine-game schedule is not expected to affect 2030 and '33 matchups between the UCF Knights and the Florida Gators.
