"The core of Erin is expected to pass to the east of the southeastern and central Bahamas today and tonight," the National Hurricane Center said.

Hurricane Erin, the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season, strengthened to a Category 5 storm before weakening to a Category 4.

The hurricane's outer rain bands have started to affect the Bahamas, the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
