Nearly five years after his death, one of Eddie Van Halen’s most recognizable guitars will be auctioned off for the first time this fall.

A 1982 electric guitar used by the late rock legend Eddie Van Halen will be going up for auction in October, New York-based Sotheby’s auction house announced on Tuesday.

Van Halen’s 1982 Kramer electric guitar. Per Sotheby’s, the guitar shows extensive wear from playing, and the body features an inscription from Van Halen to Rudy Leiren.

An electric guitar custom-built and played by rock legend Eddie Van Halen could fetch up to $3 million at Sotheby’s Rock & Pop auction on October 24.
