The remains of a United Kingdom man missing for nearly two-and-a-half years have been found in a privately owned wooded area in Georgia, the FBI said.

Two men have been charged for the murder of Brianna Long, more than a year after the 21-year-old Georgia college student was killed by a stray bullet.

U.K. citizen Alex Hodgson Doughty’s remains were located by authorities in a wooded area on private land near Kingsland, Ga., on Feb. 4, the FBI confirmed in a statement. The discovery was made two years after Doughty went missing in Florida.

The FBI has found the remains of UK tourist Alex Hodgson Doughty, who went missing in the US two and a half years ago. Doughty was 30 when he was visiting Florida in 2022 and was reported missing after his mother was unable to contact him.

Investigators believe the two alleged killers were in the area looking for “another person related to an ongoing gang dispute” when the shots were fired.

Doughty was visiting from the United Kingdom when he vanished in North Florida in September 2022, according to the FBI. The then-30-year-old was last seen around 1 a.m. Sept. 12, 2022, in the parking lot of a Car Quest auto parts store after exiting an Uber, WJAX reported, citing a NaMUS case file.
