Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch joined the “Jeremy and Joe Show” on Tuesday, ahead of a four-game homestand at KeyBank Center. Here’s some of what he had to say on WGR:
Tage Thompson and JJ Peterka had hat tricks, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 26 saves as Buffalo rolled to a 7-2 win over Boston.
The Sabres have the assets to entice Vancouver into a trade. The bigger question is what, exactly, Buffalo might have to give up.
The Bruins, back in the playoff hunt after a 5-1-1 stretch, take on a Sabres team at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal and two assists to lead the Calgary Flames to a 5-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored two goals to help the Edmonton Oilers beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2. Edmonton improved to 21-6-1 in its last 28 games.
The Sabres return home for an Atlantic Division showdown. The Buffalo Sabres face the Boston Bruins on Tuesday at KeyBank Center, aiming to put their 1-3-0 road trip, which ended with a 3-2 loss Saturday in Edmonton, behind them.
The Buffalo Sabres (18-26-5) fell 3-2 to the Edmonton Oilers (31-15-3) at Rogers Place on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 1-4 in their last five games. Buffalo’s Alex Tuch opened the scoring late in the first period, converting on a sharp pass from Jason Zucker, but the Oilers responded just 17 seconds later, thanks to former Sabre Jeff Skinner.
With the game tied 2-2, Buffalo outshot Edmonton 11-1 to start the third period before Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his second goal of the game, giving the Oilers their first lead of the afternoon. That tally was ultimately the game winner as the Sabres concluded their road trip with a 1-3-0 record.
The club is last in the Eastern Conference with an 18-26-5 record and, barring an unprecedented run, the playoff drought that’s chased off season-ticket holders will reach 14 years.
