Russian President Vladimir Putin's continued refusal to accept a ceasefire is "complicating" efforts to reach a peace deal, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday, as he prepared to travel to the White House to meet with U.

Zelenskyy said in a statement: “This is a historic decision that the United States is ready to take part in security guarantees for Ukraine. Security guarantees, as a result of our joint work, must really be very practical, delivering protection on land, in the air, and at sea, and must be developed with Europe’s participation.”

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he does not have detailed information about what kind of security guarantees for Ukraine were discussed by US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the talks in Alaska.
