Overlooked in the wash up to the rollercoaster British Grand Prix was a huge admission that came from Oscar Piastri’s garage. For once it wasn’t going to be the Australian who got screwed over. Aussie Oscar Piastri has been left feeling aggrieved after a wild British Grand Prix where a 10-second penalty cost him a likely race win.

The lead car can dictate the pace of the restart, but Piastri was pinged by race stewards for "suddenly" braking. He received a 10-second time penalty, which he served during a pitstop. As a result, McLaren teammate Lando Norris took the race lead and went on to claim victory in his home Grand Prix.

The McLaren F1 team principal was very happy about the 1-2 finish at Silverstone, but suggest that the penalty on Piastri was "harsh."
