There was a slight change in the Chiefs’ quarterback room. Daniel followed Pederson to the Eagles, and that left a roster opening. The Chiefs turned to veteran quarterback Nick Foles to fill the void. Foles made three appearances and one start.

Pederson is now a free agent himself with a Super Bowl ring as head coach on his resume from his stint in Philly and now a failed run with the Jags to put a young team over the top. While Pederson might yet get another chance down the road, it feels like an interim stop is next for him, if he wants to keep coaching at the pro level.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has confirmed that Patrick Mahomes will sit out the trip to Denver, giving the three-time Super Bowl MVP a week of rest after a busy festive period. The Chiefs have already secured No. 1 seed in the AFC and have the luxury of resting players.
