A large brush fire burned approximately 4 acres of land in Warren Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters said they responded to Long Lane shortly after 1 p.m. for reports of a brush fire.

The recent stretch of dry, breezy weather has put much of Rhode Island in an elevated fire risk, according to fire and emergency officials.

The fire underscores the importance of having working smoke detectors in all homes, be they apartments or single-family houses.
