Kentucky opens season with win over Toledo, but offense struggles again
But it is unlikely many UK fans left Kroger Field excited about the Wildcats’ 2025 outlook after last season’s offensive struggles continued. Thanks to two late scoring drives, Toledo actually outgained Kentucky 329-305 yards on the afternoon.

Dante Dowdell broke off a 79-yard touchdown run — by far Kentucky’s biggest play of the day — on the first play of a drive to give the Cats back some cushion. It was the longest run of Dowdell’s career and gave him 128 rushing yards, the first 100-yard game of his career. The run was longer than any of UK’s previous drives of the day.
