LANCASTER — The city will purchase the former General Sherman Junior High School building at 701 Union St. and property for $390,000 from Lancaster City Schools after city council approved the sale.

The Sherman House in Lancaster purchased Gen. William T. Sherman’s sword at an auction last week. Museum officials say the monumental artifact will be used to help people connect with history.
