After years of sitting empty and becoming what many locals considered an eyesore, one Wichita Falls hotel has finally been scheduled for demolition.

Demolition began Wednesday on an abandoned multi-story hotel near the Wichita River. Heavy equipment from Midwest Wrecking Company of Texas was in place and work began.

Negotiations failed, so Wichita Falls has sued the owner of an abandoned multi-story hotel at 100 Central Freeway to use the power of eminent domain to seize the building and tear it down.
