Predators and people who eat animals that were poisoned by diphacinone can suffer "secondary exposure" to the poison because the substance can remain for a time in the organs and tissue of the animal.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said it had received reports of the bizarre occurrence in March

"I'm not talking about a little blue, I'm talking about neon blue, blueberry blue," said the wild pig trapper who made the discovery.
