After nearly three decades drumming for the rock supergroup, Matt Cameron is leaving Pearl Jam. Cameron, 62, announced the decision with a post to Instagram July 7, thanking his fellow bandmates and fans for "the opportunity of a lifetime" and teasing what comes next.

After jamming with 'the mighty Pearl Jam' for 27 years, Matt Cameron announced his exit from the band on Monday: 'I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.'

Cameron joined Pearl Jam in 1998 on their Yield Tour after spending more than a decade with Soundgarden. When Soundgarden reunited in 2010, Cameron was a member of both groups, though Soundgarden later disbanded after lead singer Chris Cornell died in 2017. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of both bands.
