Liverpool could walk away from a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak after their opening £110m offer was rejected.

Liverpool saw their reported £110 million bid for Newcastle ’s Alexander Isak refused this Friday, and seem unlikely to offer an improved bid. Though the offer is well below Newcastle’s £150 million valuation, ESPN report that the “nature” of the refusal suggests a renewed bid would be “pointless.”

Isak, meanwhile, has been preparing for the new season at Real Sociedad's training ground after skipping Newcastle 's pre-season tour of the Far East. It was initially communicated by the Magpies that he had been left out of the squad because of an injury.
