Louisiana's John Foster has made it through the first cut of 'American Idol' on tonight's finale. Breanna Nix from Denton, Texas was eliminated after the first two performances.

Jamal Roberts and John Foster were the final two on Season 23 of American Idol, with the winner announced during the live Sunday, May 18, finale. Ryan Seacrest was standing next to the final two contestant on stage as he announced the results of the nationwide vote.

After a season filled with a slew of talent, the Season 23 winner of “American Idol” is Jamal Roberts. The newly-crowned American Idol ended the show by singing “Her Heart” by Anthony Hamilton. Before a winner was announced, the “American Idol” finale included performances by the three judges who sang “Stuck on You.”
